Aside from the fact that Performance Training is ‘green' (there are no flights required to facilitate this training), and the cost is extremely affordable for the agents (less than the cost of a pizza a week), the most significant advantage with Performance Training is the retention level of the information we are teaching to our students!

I have been a platform speaker for almost 40 years and I am extremely dedicated to being effective, (getting results from my students), yet I know in my heart that by the time the students get to the parking lot 97% of what has been taught is already lost. The beauty of Performance Training is that every week for 12 weeks we ask questions, hold the agents accountable and with constant repetition the students are capturing more of the picture we are painting! It is very rewarding as a facilitator, as the majority of students are growing and their results have really begun to magnify in their production.

On Oct. 4, 2010, in recognition of World Habitat Day, Habitat for Humanity will raise awareness of the need for improved shelter and highlight Habitat's priorities: the worldwide connection between human health and housing, and neighborhood revitalization. These themes echo the United Nations' chosen theme for 2010 for events in the host city of Shanghai, China and the rest of the world: "Better City, Better Life."

Every week, more than a million people are born in, or move to, cities in the developing world. As a result, the urban population of developing countries will double from 2 billion to 4 billion in the next 30 years. (Kissick, et al: 2006)

By the year 2030, an additional 3 billion people, about 40 percent of the world's population, will need access to housing. This translates into a demand for 96,150 new affordable units every day and 4,000 every hour. (UN-HABITAT: 2005)

Habitat for Humanity hopes that by raising awareness and advocating for universal decent housing they can dismantle and alter the systems that allow for poverty housing and make an affordable, decent place to live a reality for all.

World Habitat Day coincides with EXIT Realty Corp. International's corporately sponsored home build in Cornwall Ontario.  This weekend, staff from the corporate office along with real estate agents, brokers and members of the general public will be helping to make the dream of homeownership come true for single mom, Karen McIntosh and her two children.

EXIT Realty's Cornwall ON Habitat for Humanity Building Blitz Kicks off October 2

EXIT Realty Corp. International and Habitat for Humanity Real estate agents, brokers and staff from EXIT Realty offices as well as community volunteers will have the opportunity to particpate in a life-changing experience as they swing hammers and raise paint brushes to build a safe and protected home for a deserving Cornwall Ontario family.

EXIT Realty's corporate blitz building week kicks off on October 2nd and promises to be a heartwarming, fun and satisfying experience for everyone involved.

Groundbreaking for this Cornwall home took place on Saturday, August 20 at 711 St. Antoine Street in the city's north end. Karen McIntosh, whose family was chosen to partner in the project, was on hand to turn over the sod. She was accompanied by her From left to right at the groundbreaking: Judi Auger, Broker, EXIT Realty Seaway Meagan McIntosh, holding a picture of her brother Matthew McIntosh Karen McIntosh Dick Aubry, Chair, Habitat Seaway Valleydaughter Meagan, as well as Habitat Chair Dick Aubry and EXIT Realty Seaway Broker, Judi Auger. EXIT Realty Corp. International has donated $100, 000 to the project.

Karen expressed her gratitude for the help and support she and her family have received from Habitat. Her son Matthew is autistic, and needs a safe and protected environment. The build will include a fenced yard. Karen has been busy completing the 250 volunteer hours that will serve as a down payment on the house. The family is hoping to move into the completed home by Christmas.

Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide initiative that envisions a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. It helps individuals and families in financially vulnerable situations build and buy quality affordable homes by reducing barriers to homeownership. These barriers are reduced by selling Habitat for Humanity homes with no down payment, no-interest mortgages, payments are set at 25% of gross income (principal and taxes) and homeowner training and support services.

Habitat for Humanity is EXIT Realty Corp International's charity of choice, and to date, it has pledged over $1.68 million to the cause and has corporately sponsored over a dozen home builds across the continent.
